‘Mother Knows Best’ is a new upcoming single by Polly, a Glaswegian alternative grunge band, which will be released on March 8, 2024.
Polly, a 4-piece alternative band offers a unique and new innovative sound in the Scottish music scene, creating a rawer and more energetic approach to the genre.
According to the Glasgow band, “lyrically ‘Mother’ is a personal song. The track is about trying to find who you are based off the opinions of important people in your life”.
In the opening riff, the listener can sense the loss of self-awareness as Polly states the “Opening riff hits you in the face as the writer is lost in trying to find a sense of self”.

If you are a fan of the alternative grunge/rock bands such as Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden and Tool, then you should definitely listen to Polly’s new upcoming single ‘Mother Knows Best’.
Polly, originally based in Edinburgh established themselves back in 2021, performing gigs throughout Scotland and released tracks such as ‘Slump’. The band consists of four members: Cameron Gorman, the main vocalist and songwriter, Finn Hennessey, guitar player and professional screamer, Hamish Gill, bass player and backing vocals, and Euan Rollo, the drummer.

After the two-year anniversary of the release of their single ‘Slump’, the band is back on the Scottish alternative/grunge music scene with their newly released and upcoming tracks ‘Project 46’ and ‘Mother Knows Best’. However, that’s not all as their upcoming second album ‘Rinse and Repeat’ is releasing April 26, 2024.
