DF Concerts, the festivals organiser has stated that they are taking a break to focus on the events future.

“We’ve made the decision to step back from Connect Music Festival in 2024. This time will allow us to carefully craft the next edition, ensuring it continues to offer amazing experiences for all our fans” the festival team shared on social media. This comes less than a year after fellow Scottish music festival Otherlands opted to postpone the 2023 event, citing poor ticket sales and rising production costs as the reasons.

While fans are understandably disappointed about the hiatus, there is also a sense of anticipation about what the future holds for Connect Festival.

Connect’s absence leaves a noticeable gap in Scotland’s thriving summer festival circuit. Fans will undoubtedly be seeking alternatives, most notably TRNSMT or Belladrum Festival. It also presents an opportunity for smaller, independent festivals to gain momentum in 2024

Connect’s Impact on Edinburgh’s Music Scene

Connect made its highly anticipated debut in 2022 at the Royal Highland Centre, seeking to create a diverse musical experience highlighting top international acts. Boasting The Chemical Brothers, The National, and IDLES as their debut headliners.

Connect returned even stronger in 2023 with a star-studded lineup including the Arctic Monkeys, Paolo Nutini, and The 1975. Quickly carving its niche in the Scottish festival landscape, gaining fans who loved the eclectic mix of artists.

What Comes Next for Connect?

As of now, there is no word from DF Concerts on when Connect might make its comeback or what transformations the festival may undergo during its pause. For now, fans will have to remain patient and hope for a future return of this budding musical event.
