Screen Scotland, Scotland’s leading developer of film and TV projects, has outlived its strategy for the next 6 years, in hopes of bolstering Scotland’s creative economy.

The plan sets an economic growth target of £1 billion within the Scottish economy, with a focus on fostering Scottish talent and productions. This initiative aims to create new opportunities and sustain creative jobs across Scotland, spanning all career levels within the industry.

Isabel Davis, Executive Director of Screen Scotland, expressed confidence in the plan, citing international recognition for Scottish films and a surge in productions employing local talent, locations, and facilities. She also noted the importance of collaboration with the industry and dedicated funding to drive positive change in Scotland's film and TV landscape.

“We’re starting this new strategic period from a position of strength… These tremendous results have come about through a focussed work programme, close collaboration with industry and dedicated funding. We fully intend to build on this in order to continue to effect positive change in the Scottish film and TV sector.”

David Smith, Director of Screen Scotland, highlighted the ever-evolving global landscape of the film and TV sector, stressing the importance of adapting to seize new opportunities. Smith specifically highlights the strategy's focus on nurturing creative talent, facilitating skill development, and effectively bringing projects to market.

“It’s a time of significant change in the film and TV sector globally. Screen Scotland’s work will always be responsive to the changing landscape, seeking fresh opportunities for Scotland’s people to make their mark globally in film and TV… under this strategy we are doubling down on creative origination, supporting Scotland’s creative talent to develop the skills, relationships, and opportunities they need to make their best work, alongside an understanding of how to bring those projects successfully to market.”
